i2way
Systems may be equipped with custom-designed dispatch consoles.
i2way consoles are built upon PC desktop computer technology,
so they are relatively low cost, easy to maintain, and most
importantly, completely digital.
By linking
a PC-based dispatch console directly to the i2way Network,
the dispatcher has immediate access to any group or individual
unit, plus a host of extra features such as text messaging,
GPS automatic vehicle location, cross band links, and so forth.
The PC-based dispatch console is linked to the Internet or
intranet connection Ethernet.
An i2way
console can be assigned one or more group and unit identities
on the i2way network. It can monitor the power on status of
a field of mobiles and portables. One or more DC-200 Desktop
Dispatch consoles provide audio decoding and encoding right
on the desktop so that no back room equipment is necessary,
even for multiple dispatch positions. And since encryption
is performed at the DC-200, the cables and wiring connecting
the radio system to the dispatch location are immune from
intentional interception.
The DC-200
console may be connected directly to the host PC via an RS-232
serial port (which carries audio and control data) or in stand-alone
mode by Ethernet directly to the Internet.
