GPS VEHICLE TRACKING

DV/IP mobile radio-equipped vehicles may be tracked and their location displayed at the dispatcher's workstation by using DWC's AVL Tracking Display Software. Each DV/IP mobile transceiver has an internal GPS receiver.

Tracking Display Software may be run on a PC desktop computer, and is driven by data received by way of an Internet connection to a DV/IP Network, of by an RS-232 serial connection to a standard DV/IP Mobile Radio.

Each mobile is displayed in its actual location. The operator may "zoom" in and out on the map display, as required. By selecting a particular mobile's icon with the mouse, that unit's subscriber information is displayed at the right of the map.

GPS Data is transmitted with each voice transmission, or may be polled upon demand by the dispatcher. In addition, the DV/IP GPS Mobile software allows the dispatcher to set the radio into automatic reporting mode, with user defined time intervals. The operator may set the program to leave a trail of "bread crumbs" icons showing the path or the mobile.
