DV/IP™ Features - Page 7

Text Messaging Text messages may be sent to any unit with a means of displaying them. The display on units so equipped is scrollable to read messages of length exceeding that which can be displayed.
Time-out Timer All units are normally programmed with a software-defined (default is 30 seconds) transmission timeout timer since long transmissions are often caused by inadvertant mechanical activation. A warning tone is normally sent to alert the operator of the occurrence of this function. These features can be modified by the system manager.
Virtual ID Token Passing Protocol In order to simplify the practical implementation of IP addressed routing for every member of a DV/IP network, a token passing protocol is used on air to truncate long IP addresses when there are multiple members to a talkgroup.
Voice Bank The system can store up to 128 broadcast messages such as weather reports, status reports, etc. which can be updated easily and accessed individually by field units with simple keypad commands. Permitted units can create and retrieve Voice Bank messages. Voice bank messages can also be automatically created, such as interval-based recording of weather reports, traffic reports, etc.
Zero Access Trunking Regardless of activity on the registered cell, initialization of a group or private call from a mobile, portable or control station is accompanied by no access delay. Digitization of the voice begins immediately as the radio requests a channel assignment and any queuing and subsequent channel access and message transmission is automatic.
